Michael,
I, too, have read a gazillion books on careers, success, and self help. I appreciate your recommendations and opinions on some great books here.
One that impacted me several years ago is Barbara Winter’s - Making a Living Without a Job. She is the first author I read who talked about multiple streams of income and is deeply committed to supporting entrepreneurs. I publish a twice monthly ezine called The Successful Dilettante and she graciously agreed to be my featured guest interview for my March 5 issue.
In a recent teleclass she conducted called Outsmarting Resistance, she strongly recommended a book called: The War of Art: Break Through Your Blocks and Win Your Inner Creative Battles by Steven Pressfield. Wow! What a powerful little book. It is not just for “creatives”, but for anyone who battles resistance or procrastination.
I want to share one more book with you that I recently read and has impacted me in a big way. It is called The Identity Code: The 8 Essential Questions to Finding Your Purpose and Place in the World by Larry Ackerman. It really shook me up regarding a major myth I had been carrying through my life, as many others do, that we can be or do anything we want. However, our identity code, like our genetic code is hard-wired into us and we are best served to learn what our strengths and gifts are by finding the answers to those eight questions. I wrote about it and gave a high recommendation for this book in my last ezine (Feb. 20th issue).
Cheers,
Susan Henderson
