The Portable Empire in Seven Steps
Written by Michael on November 12, 2007 – 1:52 am -I just picked up a book called Your Portable Empire: How to Make Money Anywhere While Doing What You Love, by Pat O’Bryan.
Not sure if it’s any good yet, but I do know this . . . O’Bryan has some great chapter names in the thing, which drew me in to begin with. Here are a few chapter titles:
- Your Money Thermostat
- I’d Rather Fail Big Than Live Small
- Failing Up
- All the Success You Can Stand
Essentially, O’Bryan’s “thing” is about building an Internet-based business (mostly around information products) that you can operate from anywhere. Here, in short, are his seven steps in doing just that:
- Choose your niche.
- Identify a pressing problem in your niche.
- Create a solution you can give away. Set up a “squeeze page” to exchange names and email addresses for your solution.
- Contact large list owners and arrange for them to give your freebie away. This will build your list and create relationships with future joint-venture partners.
- Find more problems and create more solutions. Sell them to your list, and offer them to your partners to sell to their lists.
- Continue building relationships with your subscribers and your partners.
- Repeat to build multiple streams of passive income.
