Have you ever had one of those times when the light bulb came on, at 1000 megawatts, and you said to yourself, “Yes, this is the time I’m going to do ____,” and then you went off and did it?

I’m guessing everyone has had a moment or two like that in their lives.

And, I’m also guessing that you’re reading this blog because you’re looking for something better in your work life.

So, here you go:  The road to your dream job begins next Thursday at 2:45 pm, local time.

That’s it; that’s when it starts.  So, write that date and time on your calendar.

When that time arrives, turn off your cell phone, unplug your computer, tell your kids or boss to live without you for an hour, and do this . . .

Pick up the phone book and find three businesses that do something that’s related to your dream job.

Then choose the one with the neatest-sounding or most intriguing name.

Go there.

Talk to someone there.

Ask them if you can come work with them, in the evening or weekends if need be, or if they could advise you on how to get started on your own.  Offer to buy them lunch next Friday.

Once you’ve done this, write and tell me what happened.
