Written by Michael on February 22, 2008 – 4:08 am -Career College Central, a trade rag, recently reported on the fastest-growing courses at career colleges. Here’s what they found:
- Nursing (Registered Nurses). According to a 2002 study by the U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration, an estimated shortage of 800,000 nurses is expected in the nursing field within the next 10-15 years.NK
- Construction Management. Job opportunities are expected to rise through 2014 because the number of positions expected to open will exceed the number of qualified individuals seeking to enter the occupation.
- Early Childhood Education (Child Care Workers). Finding positions in this field should be relatively easy given its projected 10-year growth rate of 13.8 percent, or the equivalent to about 176,000 new jobs.
- Personal Training. The need for fitness trainers and aerobics instructors is projected to increase by 45% from 2002 to 2012.
- Biotechnology. Biomedical engineering careers are expected to increase about 26% per year through 2012 according to the U.S. Department of Labor.
