Hi Michael - I’d been on your mailing list for ages, and never unsubscribed. Suddenly, I thought about you, and realized I wasn’t receiving your e-mails anymore! I have missed reading your thought provoking articles as well as the reader submissions. I checked my Spam folder and…nothing. So, anyway, I have resubscribed, and I’m back.
Here’s what I’m up to - In the forthcoming year, I am interested in doing transcription work from my home office - nothing specific like medical or legal.
Years ago I had done sales report transcription as part of my secretarial job, using the old-fashioned mini-cassettes in a tape recorder, with a foot pedal. I loved this work; if felt like a game to me! I know that there are many new innovations and would really love some guidance.
While looking on sites such as “Elance”, I became concerned because many of the transcription jobs are calling for transcriptionists with several years of experience (my experience dates from the Seventies!). It seems like the same old “can’t get experience because they won’t hire someone without experience” syndrome.
Currently, I’m working on a p/t job from home, typing news summaries, which I really enjoy, but I sure can’t live on the salary. I REALLY need to expand. I would sincerely appreciate any input. Thanks!
