Mentor Wanted
Written by Michael on July 31, 2008 – 1:47 am -Reader Janet is looking for some help on finding her career passion. She’s 30 years old and has had several different career paths, yet hasn’t been able to find anything she truly loves.
Here’s a recent note from Janet:
Let’s see… I have a Bachelor’s in Business Administration and am currently working on a Masters in Accounting and Financial Management to further my career as a CPA.
When I first graduated from college I took an internship as a media buyer in an advertising firm. I then moved on to a marketing position and I enjoyed it but I was laid off so I didn’t pursue marketing after that. I then went on to an office management and payroll position. My next move was that of a purchasing agent and then on to another advertising agency as the Creative Director’s Assistant. Because of the advertising world instability I left for a more secure position as a tax accountant at a small CPA firm, which is my current position.
I learn fast which is why I’ve been able to move around to drastic and opposing positions. My problem is that when I get the hang of something and understand it I begin to get bored.
I honestly don’t know what my life’s work is. I have currently taken on photography as a hobby and I like helping the elderly that live around me.
Anyone want to take a shot at giving her some advice?

Wanted: “Effective Meetings Seminar” Guru
Written by Michael on January 10, 2008 – 1:43 pm -Hey Dream Jobber:
Thought perhaps you might help . . .
For an upcoming online course we’re writing/creating on Running Effective Meetings (over at one of my other companies, InfoSource Learning). . .
Just wondering . . . do you know of anyone who’s the hotshot of effective meetings? Would be a person who’s taught thousands of business people, worked with Fortune 500-type organizations, and written a book or two on the topic.
Sort of the “Tom Peters of meetings.”
We need someone like this to be a “spokesperson” for part of the course.
Ideas welcomed and appreciated.
Thanks,
Michael

Career Advice — Blogs Wanted!
Written by Michael on September 14, 2006 – 12:05 pm -I’m compiling a directory of career advice/job sites, and will share the finished product with you here. (I’m not including resume and job-posting sites such as Monster or CareerBuilder.)
To qualify for the list, the site must be a blog and it must be focused primarily on helping people find jobs or develop their careers.
Do you have a career site you visit regularly? If you do, would you please be kind enough to drop me a note at blog@dreamjobsdialog.com or leave a Comment here on this post?
Please send me the blog’s URL and a brief comment as to why you like it.
Thanks much.
Michael

Online Entrepreneur Wanted!
Written by Michael on August 30, 2006 – 9:47 am -I’m looking for a very special person.
Someone with a proven track-record in business, with a strong focus on web-based marketing.
Would also be helpful if this person has a strong personal and radio or television presence.
One of my other companies, InfoSource, Inc., is in the online learning business. We develop and market online courses and learning systems for companies, government agencies, and commercial operations around the world. Much of our focus is on teachers and students in the K-12 arena.
We have an idea to spin off a new business to market some of our products directly to individuals.
We will supply all of the infrastructure (systems, products, online ecommerce engines, and the like) but we need an extremely motivated, business-experienced, and Web-savvy partner to pull all this together.
This is a business opportunity and NOT a job. (We’re not creating a new job position, we’re creating a new business and we need an EXPERIENCED pro to run it.)
We can also supply some funding, and we will negotiate revenue share. Again, though, this is not a job with salary, benefits and all that sort of stuff.
If you, or someone you know, are intrigued with this opportunity, please contact me directly at mwerner@howtomaster.com.
