Finding your dream job is both easy and hard.

It’s really easy if you surround yourself with smart, inquisitive, positive people who inspire you, believe in you, give you objective and non-self-serving advice, and on top of that you don’t have to worry about real world things such as a spouse, kids, money, or your own perceptions of what defines success.

It’s hard because, even though you can eventually create that type of  environment for yourself (but, that in itself will require its own quest), you likely won’t have all of those wonderful pieces fall into your lap at any one time.

So, as most of us are, we’re left to deal with the cards we’re dealt and move forward as best we can.

In a nutshell, figuring out your own right livelihood — that mythical dream job — and then getting to a point where you’re living your dream involves four steps:

1. Finding your passion.
2. Developing your passion.
3. Matching work and passion.
4. Growing your work.
